Yu (Dewey) Du holds a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, Virginia, USA). Dr. Du started his professional career in the acoustic field as a research scientist developing advanced passive and active personal hearing protection technologies for military use. On that position, he became familiar with miniature acoustic transducers and their applications. He has cumulatively over fifteen years’ R&D experience developing microphone and vibration sensors to support various consumer and automotive applications. Dr. Du currently is a Distinguished Engineer in the Automotive Microphones and Sensors Group at Harman International, where he focuses on exploring new, and improving existing, microphone and accelerometer sensor technologies to meet future demands of automotive internal/external sound detection and noise management. Dr. Du is a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), Acoustical Society of America (ASA), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).  He also serves on the AES Technical Committee on Automotive Audio and is a founding member of NAS and Speech sub-committees.
